I had just finished a 24-hour hospital call shift, running on caffeine, adrenaline, and the kind of exhaustion only working moms know. I dragged myself into my son’s swimming lesson, sat down on the bleachers next to a group of moms, and tried to blend in.
But inside? I felt completely alone.
I was surrounded by people, but I felt like I didn’t belong there, or at work either. I was a physician, a mom of four, a leader... And still, I felt like I was failing at everything. I didn’t have the energy to fake it anymore.
Even online—inside the Facebook groups I had joined—I still felt unseen.
The noise, the performative posts, the overwhelm…it wasn’t the support I truly needed.
What I really longed for was a place to land.
