Make the Shift from Chaos to Control
Nov 14, 2025
As high-achieving, working women, we are constantly battling chaos, and the holidays always seem to make that fight more difficult. So, with the holiday season fast-approaching, I have been asking myself, how can I make sure this season is free from the typical chaos and move it toward better control?
P.S. You Don’t Have to Live in Chaos Anymore
As working women, chaos can start to feel normal, even expected. Stress and unrest can actually start to become comfortable for us because it is all we know. We don’t know how to shift or change the system of chaos, so we just embrace it as the status quo. But I‘m here to tell you, you don’t have to live this way anymore! I have a few tips to help you move from chaos to control as we dive into the yearly holiday season.
Reprioritize Your Time
I want you to grab a notebook. Take a look at your current to do list and spend a few moments prioritizing it from the most important/urgent tasks to the least important/urgent. Then, establish realistic goals and deadlines for each task (hint: not everything has to be done today... or even this week). Rewrite your reprioritized tasks in your notebook with your new deadlines (if the deadlines are causing stress, try reworking them to something more realistic).
Now, I want you to add self-care to the top of each day of that list. You can include activities like:
- taking a walk
- reading a book
- listening to music or a podcast
- Meditating
- Relaxing and taking a few deep breaths.
I know this feels counterproductive at first, but the truth is that taking care of yourself and your mental health can help you to be more productive and effective in your work, as well as more emotionally stable and aware. So, be sure to make it a priority!
Delegate Responsibilities & ASK FOR HELP!
Juggling all the things starts to take a toll after a while. Now, I understand that as a working woman, you have enormous responsibilities, and of course, you should take that seriously. At the same time, I also know that not everything has to be done by YOU. You can delegate, and you can ask for or even hire help. Getting a few things off your plate will free you up for more important things like family, work, and your personal goals!
Remember: you do not need to do everything.
So, take the notebook back out and rewrite that list with the things that ONLY YOU CAN DO. DELEGATE all your non-essential tasks to others, and focus on the tasks that are most important to you.
Take Time for Yourself
As working women, it is sooooo easy to forget to take care of ourselves. Especially in the holiday season. Dedicating precious time to ourselves sometimes seems impossible. But it is necessary to take breaks and do things for ourselves now and then.
With all the madness and mayhem of life, at the end of the day, you need something to look forward to coming home to. Apart from spending time with family or friends, dedicating time to yourself will help you escape from work and holiday chaos and start to take back control of your life.
- Start with baby steps: set aside 30 minutes each day for self-care. This can include anything from reading a book to going for a walk to relaxing in a hot bubble bath. The key is to do something that makes you feel relaxed, focused, and happy.
- Create a morning routine that you enjoy. It is critical to schedule time to start your day with clarity and relaxation. Sometimes, all you need is to set aside a few extra minutes in the morning to clear your mind and prepare yourself mentally for the day ahead. This can look like meditation, getting outside in nature, doing your skin care routine, or going over your tasks for the day and reprioritizing them with control and peace in mind.
