We made it!

We are officially past the halfway mark of the year, and you know what? I think we deserve a treat for that.

Take a moment to look back at the beginning of this year compared to today and celebrate all of the baby steps and progress that you’ve made. Are you proud of yourself? You should be. I am proud of you, not because of what you’ve accomplished, but because you’ve grown stronger, braver, and fiercer in setting boundaries.

I see all the effort, resilience, hard work, sleepless nights, and courage that you’ve given this year. So, this is your official permission to celebrate you.

Maybe you know exactly what you want, or maybe it’s been so long since you treated yourself that it’s hard to even think of ways to do it. I’m here to help.

10 Ways to Take Time For You

Take a Long, Hot Bubble Bath

Let's start the list with a bang! Light some candles, pour yourself a glass of wine or your favorite beverage, and put on some soothing music to make the most of it. Stay in the bath for as long as you like–no email, no requests, no interruptions, just you letting all your worries and anxieties drift away.

Buy Yourself a Small Gift

I like to emphasize the word “gift.” If you think you deserve two or more for all the year’s hard work, then go for it! Whether it’s a book, a handbag, a cozy pair of slippers, a candle, a plant, or even a mug, if you think you deserve it, this is the perfect time to reward yourself with some retail therapy.

Read a Book in a Cozy Spot

This one is for my practical ladies out there. My living room is one of my favorite cozy spots, especially when there's a fire in the fireplace. I love to treat myself to an evening spent curled up on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea or hot cocoa.

Go for a Leisurely Walk

A leisurely walk is an excellent way to enjoy your surroundings, practice mindfulness, and process your thoughts and feelings while exercising your body.

Treat Yourself to a Delicious Meal

Cooking or going out for a delicious meal is a wonderful way to pamper yourself. If you are cooking, take your time and enjoy the process. Play some music, light a candle, and savor the aromas and flavors of the meal you're preparing. If you’re going out, order the comfort food you’ve been craving and savor every bite (and the fact that you don’t have to do the dishes).

Do Something Fun or Creative

For this one, the options are limitless. Whether you’re up for chill moments or exciting adventures, it is your call. Take this time to explore the fun and creative side of you.

Go to a Movie by Yourself

Watch the movie of your choice without having to make any compromises (or share your popcorn).

Spa Day

Go for a massage, facial, yoga, meditation, or another activity that can help you let go of stress.

Go for a Drive in the Countryside

If you want to unleash your inner explorer, I suggest a drive through the countryside. Be spontaneous and explore the small towns you pass through. Stop for lunch at a local pub or cafe.

Take a Day Off from all the Chaos

If you need a day (or two) off from all the chaos, try to plan a day that is completely free of obligations and stress. This could include finding a quiet spot in nature to relax, driving to a quiet beach or lake, or simply staying at home. Whatever it is, make sure it allows you to disconnect from your to-do list and simply relax.

Treat Yourself With a Weekend Away

Maybe you’re thinking, "It feels selfish to take time away for myself."

But picture this with me... No emails, no laundry, no mom-taxi duties. Just you lounging by the pool with a drink and a fully recharged nervous system.

I understand why taking a weekend away to attend the Brave Enough 2025 Women’s CME Conference could feel selfish. We live in a society that has taught us that our value comes from being everything to everyone all the time. But can I tell you a secret?? It’s a LIE. Your value has nothing to do with what you DO or what you ACCOMPLISH... It is simply part of WHO YOU ARE.

When you understand this truth, you realize that taking care of yourself is as far from selfish as you can get. I've said it before, and I'll say it again (and probably a few more times for good measure), you cannot pour from an empty cup. You must refill and recharge in order to have anything to give the people you love and the work you are passionate about.
