Things I Learned In 2024
Dec 27, 2024This year has brought me a lot of joy.
Getting to see my Asher P graduate from high school and launch at college, spending a week with Lance and the kids in London, and several weeks in Hilton Head in our favorite place.
The year also brought amazing outcomes through Brave Enough, an incredible retreat in Mexico, and the Spring Brave Balance Coaching cohort, which brought major transformation to women’s lives. The Brave Enough CME Conference in Scottsdale helped so many women get connected and experience change, plus my first RISE coaching group. What a blessed year! I was able to get to spend time with so many of you one-on-one and in beautiful spaces, including online.
I am so blessed to get to do this work that continues to transform women, many of you who then reached back out to me and helped me through a hard year. I am grateful to each of you who helped me. This year brought its challenges, as we lost our home in late April in a tornado and had to move, leaving our community and place of comfort and starting a whole new way of life in a matter of hours. It’s been hard, yet we, as a family, have learned so many valuable lessons.
Here is a summary of what I have learned this year. I hope it encourages you!
- Being a good parent is providing shelter, food & a safe place for the people you love. It’s not making Pinterest-worthy food or décor. Providing the basics is enough!
- I only need/use about 20% of the things I once owned.
- You will never be criticized by people who are more successful or harder working than you are. You will be criticized by people who don’t understand your ambition.
- As women, we are not responsible for the emotional regulation of everyone in the room.
- When I am overwhelmed, I STOP, take 5 breaths, and do the very next best thing for my health. (Even if it’s walking away).
- I do not waste time trying to “figure out” other people. I move on. It’s likely not about me anyway.
- It is okay to have friends for a season. We all change, and so may our friendships.
- If you feel like you are being undervalued or taken for granted, you likely are. Take a hard right turn – fast.
- Prioritizing your health is never selfish.
- You will get through times of rejection and failure. If you let them, they will provide self-development beyond what any course could provide.
My hope in 2025 is that I will continue to grow.
And I know that likely means more hard things. But this year I have learned just how strong I am, and how much we as humans are loved when others show up for us in hard times. My wish for you is the same: that you continue to grow, that you realize how strong you are, and that you also know you are loved.
Thank you for being part of this community. And thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my life with you all this year!
