But how do we exactly do both without compromising our productivity and without neglecting our goals? Here are 7 ways you can try: 

1. Start with "Why” 

Let’s start by taking a moment to reflect on what motivates us. Whether it is the desire to provide for our families, make strides in our careers, or pursue personal passions that light up our lives, understanding these core motivations is essential. When we identify our "why," we create a strong foundation for how we choose to spend our time. This clarity helps us see beyond the daily grind and connect our actions to something deeper and more meaningful.  

By knowing what drives us, we can align our time with our true priorities, ensuring that our efforts are not just about getting things done, but about building the life we truly want. It is this focus on our "why" that empowers us to make deliberate choices, guiding us through the busyness of life with purpose and intention.

If the answer is yes, it goes to the top of our list. If not, we reconsider its place in our lives. This intentional focus on our core motivations allows us to cut through the noise and zero in on what counts.  

Saying no becomes an act of self-care. When we are clear on our "why," it is easier to decline commitments that do not serve our goals or align with our purpose. We understand that every time we say yes to something that does not fit our priorities, we are saying no to something that does. Prioritizing with purpose means honoring our time, and reserving them for the activities that move us closer to our goals and bring us fulfillment.

Whether it is having a morning coffee, listening to podcast while getting ready, or simply hitting your 10k steps, routine provides structure and stability in an otherwise chaotic world. 

5. Stay Flexible but Focused 

Life as a working mom or busy professional can be unpredictable. While we stay flexible and adapt to shifting circumstances, we make sure not to lose sight of our "why." If unexpected events alter our plans, we adjust our strategies and schedules but remain anchored to our core motivations. By keeping our ultimate goals in mind, we ensure that every adjustment still serves our purpose and keeps us moving in the right direction.
